Honeymoon Day Six - Saturday 24th March 2007
Tags: honeymoon

We had a fairly quiet day today. We got organised in the morning and repacked all our bags and left out what we needed that day and tomorrow. We decided to finish our honeymoon with a night walk. We spent the afternoon playing pool and mage our way up early to the Dragonfly. We sat there and watched the frogs and turtles and this really big spider. After dinner we were picked up for our night walk. It was a private tour, just the two of us. We sore the most amazing things. As Follows:

Lizards: Really cool lizards covered in thick scales and had spots around their face. They wre bright blues and browns

Hudsman: These didn't look like hudsmans they where thinner and longer and lighter with white stripes all over them. They through their web to catch prey like spiderman our glides with their web to fall over their prey.

Prawns: Weird looking. Very skinny and long. The hudsman eat the prawns. They sit on the shore and throw webs at them.

Fireflies: They sparkled . Very beautiful.

Pytons: We sore two. Becky spotted the first on right next to her feet. They were both about 3 - 3.5m long and on the hunt. They were brown with huge triangles and a distinct blue shimmer to them.

Native Rat: Not like the ones here. We wouldn't have known it was a rat. It looked more like a furry marsupial. Think bilby.

Ant Encounter One: These ants look harmless but they leave a really bad smell if toushed and it is vertually impossible to get it off. Commonly the smell can linger for seven days.

Ant Encounter Two: These look like they came out of an animated film and if you licked their bottoms they tasted like lemon. Really strong.

Frog Encounter One: These had a brown trasparent colour with big protruding eyes. They closer they got to a female the yellower they got.

Frog Encounter Two: These were a dark brown with a deep red tinge to them and they made so much noise. They were tiny though and you had to look hard to see them.

Kane Toads: Wouldn't have been a trip to Queensland without seeing one. We never knew but the poison is hillousogentic. Freaky!

Spider: This spider sat on leafs and looked like bird droppings. It took a bit to see him. Insects that eat the droppings come up to the spider and the rest is history.

Owl: It didn't look like an owl, more like a possum.

Queensland Wallaby: Very cute.

Trees: These trees grow about a metre every two hundred years and some of them were really big. The ones that looked like small scubbes were about three/four hundred years old.

Our guide was a blast and he told us some very funny stories like the woman who turned up in a white prada suite and stilletos. It was a long walk her him that night.

We are looking forward to going home tomorrow and had the best honeymoon ever. We wouldn't chage a thing...

Honeymoon Day Five - Firday 23rd March 2007

Today we went horseriding. We were picked up just after 8.00am and were taken to a private property. When we got there we found us some hard hats and filled out the disclaimer form. They then showed all those who hadn't ridden before ho to get on and off a horse. Will got on a horse callen Rarj. He was this big horse who loved his grass. My horse was called Zues, commonly known as digger. He was a six year old thourorbread. We were taken along the croc rivers and onto the beach. We got to canter on the beach and Becky's horse and the instructors horse loved to race so she spent the entire time pulling her horse behind the instructors. It was fun but there was real problems with working out who was boss the horse or Becky. We were then taken through the rainforest and through gullys and water. We had another canter and Becky was having a lot of problwma trying to keep him under control. We eventually made it to a swimming hole and took some photos of Will swmming. We then cantered through a paddock and it was the best canter all day. When we got back to the stables we unharnessed and desaddles them, had a snack and drink before we were taken back to the resort. When we got back to the resort we had a drink and headed for the pool. We were in the pool for ages and met up with three people. Two of them was stange but one of them who was an english tourist we got on with. We went out to dinner together and had drinks back in our room. That's when things got weird. Never sore it comming but hings got weird and Becky marched her back to her room. We had a fab day though.

Honeymoon Day Four - Thursday 22nd March 2007

3.40pm

After breckfast this morning we were still really tired or in 'holiday' mode and slept. Will got up and did a load of washing. In the afternoon we decided to trck to coconut beach. We stopped at Mason's which is a grog shop and then visited their swimming hole. We had to follow pink ribbons as there was no track. We got lost for a moment when we ran out of ribbons but got back eventually. When we got to cocnut beach we made our dinner reservation for 6.30pm. We then finally made it to the beach. Will had never seen a proper cocnut before and so Becky found one that was ripe. He then spent ages, with many issues cracking open the coconut. We then sat on a rock and ate it. Will was then determined to open a coconut without cracking the shell. The second coconut broke but Will got to drink the milk for the first time. We then found a peice of wood and slowly peeled the outer shell by carefully knocking it on the wood. With much perseverence he did it. Will was so pround of himself. We took to cocnut home and put it in the fridge. Coconuts will never be the same again. Will said that it was his way of showing he will always provide for me. There was even a small teary moment. So that is now out symbol of an integral part of our relationship and we will never forget it. Coconuts will never be the same again.

8.45pm

We had a rest this afternoon and got up in the evening to get dressed. Will found this extreemly hard. His body wouldn't co-operate and his mind was focused on more sleeping. We were picked up and driven to Coconut Beach Bar and Retaurant where we were seated looking over the exotic mangroves with the sea to be heard in the background. The food was mouthwatering and we had breaks in between courses to wander on the deck with cocktails.

Will's Entry

New knowledge was gained throughout the meal:

(a) Tiolet rolls should go over, not under for reasons that are oblivious to myself and any other like minded person

(b) White bowels should never, repeat, never go with white bowels in the pantry. Further more, nothing should be placed in the middle of any slef for reasons as above

(c) Rebecca belives that it is ridicvould to place pink and brown pillows on top of brown pillows on out brown lounge. She would rather the brown pillows go on top of the pink and brown pillows on the brown lounge. Reasons as above.

Honeymoon Day Three - Wednesday 21st March 2007

5.00pm

Today we visited the great barrier reef. We were up early, around 6.30am. Will went and had some breakfast while I cleaned up our room. About 7.30am we made it up to reception. It was raining again but we had the chance to sit undercover. We spoke to some German girls who have seen more of this country than we think we will wver see. We were transfered to Cape tribulation Beach. (Where Capain Cook landed) and jumped on a boat which took us to a bigger boat. There was ten of us on board together. It took forty-five minuted to get out to the Great Barrier Reff. It was quite a choppy ride but no one got sick. There was like an hour of safety and forms we had to fill in before we could get on with actually snorkling. Becky was also advised no smoking. No smoking ALL day! What a bummer! Becky somehow managed to avoid killing everyone on board or anything in the water for that matter, even avoided hanging off the roof out of frustration. We had morning tea when we got there and had our first snorkle. The tide was up highly and the snorkling was fairly remedial. We snorled for about an hour before lunch was served. After lunch we sat down and one of the guides gave us the run down on the most common species in that part of the reef and how the reef was formed. When we went our snorkling again we sort of know what to look for and the tide was down so the reef was gorgous in some areas. The corals ranged from reds to blues to purples to greens. The giant clams were amazing and bright. We sore mainly bright green and purples ones. Some of them were longer than Becky's bosy. Very beautiful. Parrot fish were amazing. They were very brightly coloured and fed off the coral. The fungus in the coral is wahet they consume, what comes out the other end is sand. This sand builds up and eventually becomes an island. Frazer Island began from Parrot Fish reminenses. You could also see their teeth marks of the coral. We sore some other amazing fish. As Follows:

Sea Cucumbers:   25cm diamator - 30am length

Angel Fish:             50cm diamator - 60cm Hight

Blue Star Fish:       25cm diamator

Random fish:          30cm diamator - 1.5 metres Long

Baby Stingray

Will got sea sick on the way back and one of the guides pressed a pressure point on Will and it made him feel 'centred'. He thinks it worked. We were both very glad to hit solid ground again. It was a little annoying not being on solid ground all day. It was worth it though. We were both very tired and when we got back and crashed after dinner.

Honeymoon Day Two- Tuesday 20th March 2007

8.30am - Will's Entry

This morning after 'rudly' being woken by my beautiful wife at 6.30am by a continuous clicking sound, Idiscovered that Rebecca had left her lighter outside and we had recieved heavy rainfall overnight. Rebecca quickly put on some clothes and ventured into the rainfall whilst I fixed the lighter. Fifteen minuted later, Rebecca returned looking like a drowned rat with no form of fire. I took care of Rebecca, lit her smoke and made her all happy.

8.30pm - Our Entry

Today we went on a big walk. It was raining pretty heavily most of the day and Becky went through three lots of clothing. We followed a trail that was reccomended by the resort. We walked along the rivers edge where crocodiles are commonly seen. We even got photos next to the warning signs by the waters edge. When we got to the ocean the tide was up. Really up. To the point of hitting the rainforest. We somehow managed to clamber over trees and stuff because we refused to give up. The rain was so hard. It belted and now we both looked like drowned rats. We got some very beautiful photos and even found a swing attached to a branch on the beach. The sand was like mud becuase of the rain anfd for a bit there it was a hard slog. We somehow managed to make it to the normal beach and collected shells. We eventually made it to an area where the river met the ocean, (we passed over or through many of these) but there was a recently erected sign warning of recent croc sightings. Will wants to tellt his story.

Will's Entry

Even though Becky and I had noticed the croc sign, I still ventured tit deep into the river. After exploring and realising it was uncrossable I retreated out of the water. At this time Becky told me that she though it was unsafe to be in the water! (Thankyou for the concern!)

Entry Continued...

Smarty pants... So we vetured back and found a walkway and had more photos. We visited the 'local' shopping centre which consisted of a pharmacy and IGA no bigger than the crocs they advertise here. Will somehow managed not once but three times to knock over the panadol display and everything in it. We bought sunscreen and walked back for an afternoon nap.

Will's Entry

Not remembering Becky's normal status after waking from an afternoon nap I foolishly woke the bridezilla. After genrela nagging and grumbles we decided to venture to the shops to buy a bag and chocolate.

Entry Continued...

It hadn't rained in hours, but when we left, the minute we got on the road it didn't just rain, it bloodly poored. Again think drowned rat. Becky had a small hissy fit and we both cuddled under a furn and began thinking about the prospect of aquiring an umbrella. We know we won't cause we're way too stingy. We made it down though. A little wet, a little buzzed, a little scary looking, but we made it. Becky found a bag and chocolate and was instantly happy. Not only did she get chocolate she also got retail therapy. We read in the afternoon and made our way to dinner. We had chicken and I had a fabulous prawn salad. We are off to the great barrier reef tomorrow and have to be up early so a quick swim and bed.
